The world's most senseless war?

Across the news today are calls to decriminalise the possession of drugs:

Next week the Global Commission on Drug Policy meets in New York to present its report and recommendations to the UN to end the war on drugs and move towards regulation. In support, Avaaz has launched an online petition to get 1 million signatures to be delivered to Ban Ki Moon along with Commission's findings.
