Details of the new RCGP Certificate in the 'Detection, Diagnosis and Management of Hepatitis B and C in Primary Care' have been announced.
The RCGP Certificate in the Detection, Diagnosis and Management of Hepatitis B and C in Primary Care is an educational package largely aimed at generalist clinicians such as GPs and nurses already working in primary care, and it provides a basic grounding in issues around hepatitis B and C. It will be particularly useful for GPs with a special interest in substance misuse, drugs workers and those involved in needle exchange and harm reduction services.
The certificate is in 3 parts:
The e-module is available to everyone for free at http://elearning.rcgp.org.uk/.
Part 1 - To obtain the Part 1 of the Certificate you will need to complete the e-module and then attend one of the RCGP accredited face-to-face training days, equivalent to six hours continuing professional development (CPD). The first National Events 2011 have just been announced:

Thursday 24th November Manchester
Part 2 - Is a continuation of the existing certificate and will develop further knowledge and skills for primary care clinicians. This training will be delivered by primary and secondary care specialists and will be equivalent to 6 hours of continuing professional development (CPD). Part 2 is still under development and is planned to be rolled out in early 2012. To register your interest in Part 2 of the Certificate contact hepbandc@rcgp.org.uk .
